Artist Statement

Contrast captivates me. I am enamored by depth and opposition which forces me to explore the interplay between elements that guide my work. As an artist, I explore the juxtaposition between opposing elements creating compositions that evoke a harmonious connection.

I am inspired daily by our world. At one end chaos, at the other order, at one end conflict, at the other peace. I embrace the daily contradictions of light and dark, fragility and strength and embody them in my creations.

Working in limited color schemes allows me to focus on texture, line and balance while exploring contrast through a range of techniques and mediums. From my bold brushstrokes layered on raw canvas, to my experimentation with opposing color and tonal values, I seek to find meaning through everyday contradictions. I strive to create work that evokes a sense of beauty while exploring contrast and its profound impact on our lives.
